Cashing a cheque

Right so, got the cheque from SB, and as it was a beautiful day I decided to cash it in, have breakfast and walk back via the Alster... excellent choice. Especially good, as walking did me good - still suffering from the "painting the kitchen job" from last saturday...

PS: what did I do the last 2 weeks? well, Oct. 3 - got very drunk with Jessy,  ended up in ex-sparr. Oct - 5 - got drunk with Conor and Junior - ended up in Rosies. Oct - 6 got drunk with Schippi + Willi + Co., ended up in Watzmann... last week no EQ really, and no withdrawal symptoms either... ;)

Left work at 5, in order to do some shopping, as the lil one was about to arrive. heavy stuff, all the food which one needs in order to feed his lil/big bro... Franky then dropped by around 8, after he finished his training. Sat down to have a few starters and a glass of Rosè. nice, siting outside, as it was still around 20 Celsius...

Claudi prepared her lurvely Spagghetti with shrooms, which we in the best hammerlike "seek  and destroy" fashion got downe with in a few mins (well, me anywayz, hehe). continued to chat about Galileo - Franky seems to have gathered all his knowledge from there - j/k :-D Fortunately the lil one was able to get my 2 machines connected, so I can finally share stuff between them (check Firewall settings FTW).

was time to do some serious gaming. oh well, TA CD's broken, so i installeld a pinball simulation. and how great that went! some more beers and a few giggles later we had a last Grappa and went to bed.

got up today, and decdided to go for breakfast, havin a nice walk through the alstertal first. well, off we went, and after we got stuffed of coruse, some more exercise. packing and leaving was a mater of a couple of mins, and 30 mins later I wave dthe lil one good bye...

what a splendid morning. again! blue sky, about 15 celsius, and at 08:25 a.m. I was omw to Oevelgoenne for the second training day. had to buy a bottle of water, as I was a "bit" thirsty from the Ouzo last night... ;) did the first group task and here pics from both Joern M. and Bernhard playing "ze Rama game".

hm, maybe the last time Jo was in the office in Berliner Tor today. the lucky sod is on vacation starting today and flying out to the Maledives next week... anyhow, Frank Jo and I had some red wine, some ouzo, some more starters, some more food - had Moussaka as main course - not as nice as usual, a tad too salty imho :-(. too stuffed for desert, so we had one more raki instead :-D left about 9, and Jo was nice enough to drive me to the underground.

Joern R., looking quite serious... and here Hakan, looking even more serious ;) 4 days training about a tool, where it is likely that we will discontinue using it... "don't question authority, they don't know either" but the food is great (delivered from "lust auf italien") and the location down the river Elbe enables me to take the ferry boat every morning. fanfrikkintastic!

Thu eve I was allowed to make some homemade potatoe salad. email me for a detailed recipe, hehe. basically potatoes, gherkins, apple, mayo, and a bit mustard, horse radish and garlic for the finish. lots of peeling involved though... here you see about 14 pounds I guess. enuff for 10 people, I hoped...

well, friday was showdown. and yes, we had enough p'tatoe salad... we got close to "exterminating all of Claudis Rosè though" - great fun with the Blankenese crew! we calmed the girls with Lolek and Bolek DVD's and a teddy bear/cat puzzle... Stefan and I checked quite often if nobody was asleep, and took piccies to prove it ;)

the salad was even enough for Volkers birthday on saturday near Ruempel 8-) the girls almost got lost on the way to the party (as always it seems)... not much alcohol really, just a few beers, and of course more p'tatoe salad. left around midnight, and was glad to sit down once we got home...

as ye can see... (well, almost Manhattan that is, hehe) Kamil, + Frank on their way to ze speisewagen, a place where the food is prolly a 2-3, but the ambience is great. especially when the train is driving past and the cutlery starts to bounce.... later that day via the Alster to a reading, Wolf Haas, a great austrian writer. The movie "Komm Suesser Tod" (come you sweet death ?) is based on one of his novels, and is one of my top three german movies... After the reading, at night, the Alster looks like this (taken with my mob. phones camera). Wednesday again we went for breakfast, here the usual view from the harbour. great weather in good ole germany!

Fri, Sat and Sun flew by. From meeting  my sister Anne, seeing her new baby boy, cleaning my dads flat as he is not well yet, visiting my other Sister Ina, walking past the house I grew up, meeting Roche, having lotsa fun in Weimar and being hungover x3 when I was omw back to Hamburg...

Left work around4:30, in order to catch my train at 5. Met Gresselm and his woife at the Hamburg train station, prolly on the way to Munich or so... 3 minutes after boarding the train the announcement was "due to an unepexted problem with the track we will have to take a different route. in Berlin we will be 45 mins late". well, not nice, but can't be helped. went to the Dining Car and had my usual share of black bread. yummie :)  In Berlin Spandau then we got stuck for 15 more mins, as a woman accidently fell between track and train. glad she didn't get hurt... Of course I missed my connection in Weimar, but I really got reimbursed: Once I arrived in Hermsdorf, the air smelled so great, so fresh, so much like wood, that walking home (with a big white moon up) was pure joy. :) had two rolls with me moms homemade marmelade and went to Bed.

No lunch, as I was still full from the breakkie with da lads... 2:30 off to take U2 to Barmbek, which luckily continued on U3 to Kellinghusen. got there in time, and first thing I did (instead of washing my hair) was carrying a huge barber table with mirrors etc. inside - Yvette asked so nice. :)  got an icecream though ;) after work back home, to cut the rest of the grass...done by 7:30., and it was time to try something new, Leo's Bistro. Got half a chicken, with some cucumber and green beans salad. took me a stunning 10 mins to devour the whole lot once I started...was nice though - reminded me a bit of Dublin times, where we had quarterpounders at least twice a week (Mizzoni in Harolds Cross FTW)... had to start packing then, in between I called my dad and asked for his wishlist for his birthday pressie. well, it will be a new phone...all done, one more hour on flickr, updating the frikkin timestamps from my mobile phones pics... half an hour of Titanquest, defeated Typhoon - now I can play in Epic mode. nice one :)

As I saw Kamil yesterday in his lil car, I decided to take some pics of the guys with their very own methods of compensation... next tuesday is "greek restaurant" time, yippie :-D

Went for lunch with Frank. he already knew the indian place (Gobinda), so we decided to try something else instead. Been here (Westwind)  before with Gela - oh yeah, happy birthday Gelchen :-))) . Pesto with shrooms and a Crepè, Frank was satisfied with the penne/pesto. talked about Protestant vs. Catholic in the sense of protestant belief being the basis for successful capitalist countries. how we then ended up discussing web 2.0 - I dunno...continued  how web 2.0 will change our lives, what web 2.0 is at all, about Neal Stephensons "Snow Crash"...

PS: I took two pics, but Frank said I could pick whichever I want. And as Frank usually is very photegenic, I picked the one where he looks "shite" sorry mate :-D

twice... not only was the food spicy (just the way I like it) but the game we played (Burnout 4 - revenge) was fanfrikkintastic. "VERTICAL TAKEDOWN" Now I even think about buying a used X-box, so I can play it at home at times too...left Mareke's house around 11, just missed the Underground by one minute...then the s-bahn terminated in Ohlsdorf, so I needed to wait another 10 mins..got home by 00:15, later than I expected, but still happy, as we had lotsafun :-D

After breakfast in "Die Herren Simpel" to the Artgallery in Hamburg, an exhibition about Marseille / Provence...the pic shown above is from Emile Loubon, named "Route d'Antibes Nice" from 1861. reminded me of our trip this year, when we got stuck in traffic, on our way back to the airport in Nice...Exhibition itself was ok, but some paintings really caught ones eye...

Leaving PoBue in a hurry, as we were about to run late... all was well though... Once we got to S+K's place we found out, that the party is someplace else. no biggie, we're smart, aight? all were inside, cause it started to rain a bit. Tried Stefans chocolate cake of course (yummie). as long as the kids were not in our room, all was well ;)

Played a bit with the kids, making soap bubbles with this expensive stuff... Met Andreas D. again, haven't seen him for along time...talked about the rest of the gang too ( ase ye do, hehe).

Drinks ran out, so we went off to get new stuff - can't have a birthday party for a 7 (?) year old and no sparkling wine for the tamer... :-D discussed the term "row house"/"terraced house", but came to no conclusion, as to when the first "single family terrace houses in Germany" have been built. will have to research a bit more I guess...From the Terrace house talks we got onto Rainald Grebe, a remarkable german comedian. Meanwhile in the living room the telly was on, showing Germany playing Ireland (soccer), qualification for Eur. Champ., final score was 1:0 -  Wolfgang feel asleep some stage watching, now that was fun! *grin*

Saying good-bye to our gracious hosts we left around 10:30, so Claudi could do some more packing...
